A single concrete effect button, perfect as an accent for  for jackets, shirts and cardigans. The organic and individual finish of these buttons provides the perfect addition to natural fibres. Made from jesmonite, an eco-friendly composite, the buttons are hand cast in our Yorkshire studio so each one is unique. They are water and heat resistant and are sealed to provide extra protection during machine washing. Sometimes you only want a single button, and these make a lovely detail. We also sell sets with eight buttons which allow you to make more of a statement and have a spare or two for your button jar. Sets of buttons are presented on a postcard, making them a beautiful gift for someone who loves to sew.

The artisan nature of these buttons will appeal to anyone who makes their own clothes. They’re also a simple yet effective way to transform an existing item of clothing. Replacing cheap plastic buttons will make a garment much more special. In turn that extends the life of clothing which is great for the environment.

Single buttons are posted in card backed envelopes. This ensures they arrive safely while minimising unnecessary packaging.

When it comes to buying buttons weight is an important issue. Buttons that weight too much drag garments out of shape and are only suitable for sturdier fabrics. Each button weights 2.2 grams – and for comparison a 5 pence piece weights 3.2 grams. That lightness means these buttons would work well on a cotton shirt, and they’d look stunning against a plain background. One of the lovely things about working with jesmonite is that it can look like stone or cement but it weighs a lot less..

So what is jesmonite? Well, it’s like resin but more eco-friendly, like stone but lighter, can feel like ceramic but stronger. It is the ultimate ‘transformer’ material, becoming marble or metal, concrete, leather or fine decorative mouldings on the face of a building.
