A simple modern necklace to enjoy every day. The big hole glass bead is made from a recycled Bombay Sapphire gin bottle.
The glass used to create this bead is a stunning transparent turquoise. The bead has been tumble etched with sand and git to give it a frosted finish, much like sea glass. Each bead is made individually in our Yorkshire studio. The beads are created freehand rather than using a mould making every one unique.
The bead measures approximately 4mm across at the widest part and is 13mm high. The hole is 7mm in diameter.
The bead is finished with a 45cm (18 inch) sterling silver trace chain. The chain closes with a bolt ring clasp which fastens through a jump ring.
To ensure strength and durability all of our lampwork items are annealed in a digitally controlled kiln. This allows any stress introduced during the melting and shaping of the glass to be removed.
Your necklace will be securely packed in an metal gift tin. Boxes measure 4.2cm x 1.8cm ( 1 3/4in x 3/4in). This makes the necklace easy to post and parcels will fit though most letter boxes.
We use tissue paper and bubble wrap to ensure everything is secure for posting. Bubble wrap is recycled as glass rods are wrapped in it when they come to us). If this is a gift we’re happy to post direct to your recipient and add a gift card with a hand written message – just tell us what you’d like to say and we’ll do the rest.
We work from a studio in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. All items are ready to post.
Silver can be affected by the atmosphere and will eventually tarnish if not worn or wrapped up. The best way to care for silver is to keep it in airtight packaging such as the tin it comes in when it’s not being worn. If it does tarnish it can be cleaned with a silver polishing cloth. We recommend you don’t sleep, shower or swim in your jewellery.
The chain on this necklace weighs less than 7.78g so is not hallmarked.
