Description
A single red rose on a fine metal rod, ready to decorate plants or brighten a vase of greenery.
Plant pot decorations look wonderful in plants which were bought for their greenery. They add colour to plants which aren’t flowering. It’s easy to add a single decoration to a small vase with greenery from your garden, especially at points in the year where little is flowering.
Glass is a material with a life measured in decades. It doesn’t fade or wither. These tiny glass roses will look for years to come, making them a perfect and thoughtful gift. Each rose is made individually from Venetian glass in our Yorkshire studio.
MEASUREMENTS
Each rose measures approximately 12mm wide at the top and 15mm high. The rod and rose are approximately 17cm long. If you’d like shorter rods please leave a message with your order. We’ll then cut and sand the ends again to ensure there are no sharp edges. Please allow an extra day for us to do this.
HOW IS THIS PLANT POT DECORATION MADE?
Creating this piece starts with making the rods which are cut from much longer stainless steel rods. Both ends of the rod are sanded to remove sharp edges. The rose and leaves are created using a torch and glass rods. Glass is wound round the top if the rod and shaped. From there the decorations go to the kiln. There’s a final clean and polish and the glass roses are ready to pack and post.
WHAT MATERIALS ARE USED?
Both the rose and leaves are made from Venetian glass. The rods are 1mm stainless steel.
COLOUR ACCURACY
Glass creates wonderful colours – and this makes it a challenge to photograph as lighting makes a huge difference to how the rose appears.
The main image of the single rose was taken in bright light, and all other images were taken in daylight.
PACKAGING AND POSTING
Your rose decoration will be carefully wrapped in tissue paper and bubble wrap before being securely packed in a sturdy cardboard posting tube. This ensures everything is well protected yet thin enough to fit through most letter boxes. The rose comes with a card describing the processes and glasses used.
If this is a gift we’re happy to post straight to the recipient, and can add gift wrap and a note at no extra cost.
The price includes tracked post to UK addresses using Royal Mail 48. Orders received before 1400 on weekdays will be posted same day.
Please note we use the same packing for single roses and larger bunches, so although there are a dozen rose shown with the packaging tube this listing is for a single rose.
CARING FOR YOUR PLANT DECORATION
To ensure strength and durability all of our lampwork items are annealed in a digitally controlled kiln. This allows any stress introduced during the melting and shaping of the glass to be removed. Glass will easily stand up to years of wear.
Cleaning glass is easy. The decorations can be washed in lukewarm water and allowed to air dry.
Plant pot decorations are suitable for both indoor and outdoor plants. If the temperature is going to fall below freezing the decorations should be brought inside as the glass and metal react differently to cold.
RECYCLING INFORMATION
Plant decorations can be returned to us for recycling. We’ll separate the glass from the metal rod and reuse it, either for lampwork or as filler in ceramics. The metal rods will be reused where possible, or sent to metal recycling.
The card and tissue used in packaging can go into household recycling.
Bubble wrap can’t easily be recycled, but it can be reused (and the bubble wrap in the parcel will have been used to send something to us). We’ll continue to look for a non plastic alternative. Right now bubble wrap is the best way for us to protect small fragile things. It makes sense to reuse something we have rather than buying something new.
If the postage tube isn’t of use the cardboard can go with household recycling. The plastic caps are made from plastic which can be recycled.
